Planner Cover

As I was looking through my craft box, I found a bottle red dye that I have not used for a long time. I guess the last time I used it was 2 years ago when I was still making and selling handmade scented candles. I also did not want to discard the excess paper from when I cut out the templates so I thought of using them to make the planner cover.
You can buy any cover from your favorite craft store if you want to, but if you prefer endless hours of crafting like me, then you can go on and read through this entry for the DIY steps.
I chose the old rose-colored marble design for an added oomph to my planner.

Materials needed:

  • 2 cardboard sheets(same size as your templates)
  • glue
  • crumpled papers
  • red dye
  • hole punch
  • stirrer

Directions:

1. Add glue to the red dye. Stir.

 2. Dip the crumpled paper into the mixture.

3. Stick the colored paper to the cardboard sheet until covered.

4. Let it dry.

5. Cut off the excess.

6. Punch in 4 holes.

There you go!

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. See you!

DIY: January-February Planner Template

Hi strawberries! I was not supposed to update my blog today because my original plan was to put a new entry every Saturday, but I was so excited to share something I have been working on for the past few days. I am not good at drawing but I tried my best to create something that will brighten up your day. I made planner templates. Today, I am going to upload the January and February template. I still have not finished the other months but I promise to finish all of it before this week ends(Oh no, I only have 3 days left!!!). So please do watch out for it!

I put the important festivals, celebrations and holidays from different parts of the world in each template, with their corresponding sketches or interpretation .There are six days in every template. I also put a border in every template where you can punch in some holes. I will make a DIY entry on how to arrange them after I finish all the months. That would be next week(cross fingers).

P.S. The templates are numbered. January (1,2,3,4,5,6) February (2.1,2.2,2.3,2.4,2.5)

DIY: Upcycling Old Bangles

Happy New Year! May you have a prosperous 2014.

Most of us use this opportunity to renew and refresh our lives, that includes buying new stuff and throwing out or giving away old things. Fancy jewelry gets tarnished pretty easily. Usually, they are among the first items to be disposed. One of the things that you can do to prevent rust from ruining your jewelry is to coat them with clear polish. But if it is too late for this process, you still can salvage your damaged piece by painting them with a colored polish instead of a clear one.

I also discovered another way to recycle my old bangles. During the holiday season, my grandmother dressed our windows with beautifully embroidered curtains.

I was so inspired by it that I decided to use threads to decorate my rusty jewelry. These are the materials I used:

  •            old bangles
  •         thread (any color, I chose blue. PS. IT IS NOT MY FAVORITE COLOR)
  •         superglue
  •         cloth

     Directions:
                    1. Clean the old bangles using your cloth.

                            2.   Apply superglue on the bangle.

3.    Wrap the thread tightly around the bangle so the whole piece is covered.

Enthused by the Christmas balls (and I like to start my year in a glitzy way!), another idea is to cover the bangle with glitter. Use these:

  •       old bangles
  •       glitter
  •       clear nail polish
  •       cloth

    Directions:
                 1.     Clean the old bangles using your cloth.
                       2.    Apply clear nail polish to the bangle.
                       3.    Dip the bangle to the glitter.
                       4.   Continue until the piece is entirely covered with glitter .

It takes about 30 minutes to wrap the whole bangle with thread and 15 minutes with glitter. Do it while watching your favourite drama on tv or while waiting for the water to boil. It is a lot of fun! Here are my finished creations.
