Lessons from 2013

2013 has been a roller coaster ride. I created many memories, I learned a lot of things and hopefully I have left a mark on some people. I will not be enumerating the things that have happened to me but I will be sharing the life lessons I have accumulated this year.

  1. Make time for your family. Whoever you choose to call family, either your biological or adopted. If you are like me who have both, then it is always better to get in touch with the one as well as the other. Your family will always be there for you. You should do that for them. REMEMBER: Some relatives can be excluded. You should never feel guilty for cutting negative people from your life.
  2. It is a cliché but, really, LIFE IS TOO SHORT. Enjoy every second.
  3. Cherish the good and bad things. Smile and laugh for the good stuff and cry and mourn for the bad ones.
  4. Rejection does not always mean defeat. It can be an indication that you have won against a lifelong misery.
  5. Celebrate your birthday in a charity.
  6. The highest achievement that a person can attain is unconditional love. Love without judgement and break down your walls, but that being said, I do not mean you should permit emotional abuse. Tolerating offense and stupidity are the same.  Love and stupidity are different.
  7. Treasure each one of your friends. They are golden.
  8. It is alright to be mundane sometimes.
  9. Give yourself some me-time. Pamper yourself more.
  10. Baking soda is the bomb. You can exfoliate your skin and remove teeth stains with it.
  11. Prevent lines in your 30's by moisturizing in your 20's. Prick a vitamin e capsule and apply it on your face before going to sleep.
  12. Drink lots of water.
  13. If you think you are ready to have kids, get a pet. You should learn how to be a parent first.
  14. Travel.
  15. It is not worth it to be a damsel in distress. Wear red lipstick and kick some ass.
  16. Forgive yourself for being late on some occasions. Julie Andrews should always come to mind when you are in panic, “A queen is never late, everyone else is simply early."
  17. Fall in love with your bestfriend
